Heavy Diesel Mechanic - Float Trailers

About the role

10 Four Truck Repairs, a family-friendly business in Blacktown, NSW, specialising in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel trucks and trailers (particularly float trailers), is recruiting a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic. The position is advertised by CTS People on the client's behalf, with immediate start available.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues using diagnostic tools
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements and fluid checks
• Carry out major repairs on engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, brakes, air conditioning and hydraulic components
• Repair float trailer-specific issues such as axles, hydraulics and load-bearing capacity
• Inspect, adjust and repair air brake and hydraulic brake systems to Australian standards
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials and final drives to manufacturer specifications
• Perform road tests after repairs and record all work in the job management system
• Follow workplace health and safety rules, wear PPE and collaborate with the team

Required profile

• Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
• At least 3 years of post-qualification experience as a heavy diesel mechanic
• Right to work in Australia; Australian citizens and permanent residents encouraged, with possible visa sponsorship
• Preferred: Australian manual driver's licence and Kenworth experience

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair (Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar)
• Air and hydraulic brake systems
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical fault diagnosis and basic welding and fabrication
• Transmission, clutch and differential overhaul
