Heavy Diesel Fitter – Paraburdoo

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for Heavy Duty Diesel Fitters to maintain its mobile equipment maintenance fleet through scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. The position is open to candidates who live in Paraburdoo or Tom Price, or are willing to relocate, and reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance Operations within Mobile Maintenance. Safety and wellbeing are the top priority.

Key responsibilities

• Foster and communicate a positive safety culture and promote safety awareness and compliance
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to a high standard to minimise downtime
• Inspect workshop tooling such as stands, jacks and lifting equipment, and maintain it where applicable
• Perform auto electrical repairs where qualified, including air conditioning repairs
• Assist in shutdown maintenance and work to increase equipment reliability and availability
• Complete isolations and inspections, raise quality notifications in SAP, report defects and complete quality handovers with other crews

Required profile

• Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanical Fitter or similar trade qualification
• Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Previous experience maintaining HME equipment, with tracks and/or tyres preferred
• Current Western Australian 'C' Class driver's licence (manual) or higher
• Current HVIA certificate and HLTCPR201A (perform CPR)
• Confined space and working at heights certificates
• High risk work licences (LF, WP) preferred

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of legislation and proactive maintenance principles
• Diagnostics and fault-finding ability, planning and prioritising work to meet deadlines
• Computer skills and previous experience with SAP or similar
