Head of Divisional Controls – NAB Assist & NBS

About the role

This senior position leads risk, compliance and control functions for NAB Assist and NAB Bereavement Services. Reporting to the Executive, DCO Operations, you will partner with the NAB Assist Leadership team to shape transformation initiatives and ensure regulatory expectations are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous risk advisory, interpreting the operational risk and compliance framework and delivering independent advice to business leaders.
• Design, enhance and prioritise controls and risk‑mitigation strategies to address identified risks and regulatory obligations.
• Influence divisional change initiatives by assessing risk impacts and defining required governance, control uplift and compliance actions.
• Engage senior stakeholders, decide when to escalate material risks, control gaps or regulatory concerns.
• Set priorities for the Divisional Controls team, manage workload distribution, develop capabilities and drive risk‑maturity improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in collections, recoveries, hardship or debt‑management functions with a solid understanding of related risk frameworks.
• Track record of identifying, assessing and managing risk in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance obligations for collections, including consumer protection and conduct requirements.
• Ability to advise senior leaders, think strategically within defined policies and develop practical solutions under tight timelines.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influence and leadership of high‑performing teams.
