Handyperson – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

Novotel Melbourne South Wharf, a four-star hotel with 347 rooms and suites, is looking for a Handyperson to join its Maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will keep guest rooms, public areas, equipment and facilities maintained to a high standard. You will work independently for much of your shift while staying connected with operational teams so that maintenance issues are resolved efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Complete general repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel
• Carry out daily plant and equipment inspections and report faults
• Respond to maintenance requests in guest rooms and public areas
• Prioritise tasks and attend to urgent maintenance issues promptly
• Maintain accurate records of completed and outstanding maintenance work
• Keep tools, equipment and workshop areas safe and professional
• Work with operational departments to minimise disruption to guests
• Follow all WHS, environmental and hotel compliance requirements

Required profile

• Previous experience in general building maintenance, facilities maintenance or a similar hands-on role
• Experience in hospitality, accommodation or a customer-focused environment is highly regarded
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities without constant supervision
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to guest service
• Proactive, detail-oriented and good problem solver
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster Monday to Sunday

Required skills

• Confident use of technology and digital tools such as HUB OS and WhatsApp
• Safe and effective use of hand and power tools
