Grounds Maintenance Operator - Keswick

About the role

Service Stream is a new Australian Department of Defence partner delivering Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory, and is hiring multiple permanent full-time Grounds Maintenance Operators for its Keswick Barracks site. The role involves a wide range of manual and machinery-assisted tasks in physically demanding outdoor environments, supporting the safe and efficient execution of construction, agricultural and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and clear land for construction, agriculture or infrastructure projects
• Operate plant and construction machinery safely and efficiently
• Load, transport and handle materials and equipment
• Perform manual labour including digging, lifting and trenching
• Support tradespeople and crews with general site tasks
• Check equipment, report faults or hazards, and identify utility lines and manage soil conditions
• Set up and clean work areas, follow site plans, safety protocols and environmental regulations, and take part in toolbox talks

Required profile

• Australian citizen able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
• Ability to lift, dig, bend and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Punctual, dependable and able to work with minimal supervision
• Relevant licences, white card and first aid certificates are highly regarded

Required skills

• Safe operation of mowers, blowers, compactors and other landscaping equipment
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and use of PPE
• Assisting with fencing, paving, retaining walls and irrigation systems
