Graduate Engineer – Sustainability & Engineering (Feb 2027)

About the role

Join SMEC’s two‑year Graduate Development Program as a Graduate Engineer focused on sustainability and engineering. You will work on major transport, energy and built‑environment projects, gaining hands‑on experience while contributing to sustainability analysis and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of infrastructure projects by conducting sustainability assessments, reporting and preparing technical documentation.
• Assist in analysing environmental, social and sustainability outcomes, including carbon, energy and resource efficiency.
• Participate in site visits and project activities to understand implementation of sustainability outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability goals into transport, energy and urban development projects.
• Learn and apply industry standards, digital tools and best practices through structured development and on‑the‑job experience.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
