Graduate Coastal / Dredging Engineer

About the role

BMT, a global maritime consultancy, is looking for a Graduate Dredging and Coastal Engineer to join its Coastal and Maritime team in Perth. You will support the delivery of dredging, coastal and marine engineering projects under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers. The role suits recent and upcoming graduates interested in dredging and reclamation conceptual designs, dredging production and costing models, and project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver dredging, coastal and marine engineering projects to scope, time, cost and quality requirements for private and public sector clients
• Contribute to dredging feasibility studies, including conceptual designs, disposal placement methodologies, risk and operability assessments, and dredging production and costing models
• Apply standard engineering principles, procedures and methodologies to dredging, coastal and marine projects
• Work in a cross-discipline team with coastal engineers, environmental scientists, GIS and approvals specialists
• Assist with data analysis and numerical modelling
• Build a professional network across Australia, the UK and Singapore

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Coastal, Marine Engineering or another relevant field
• Interest in dredging, coastal engineering, marine infrastructure or environmental management projects
• Basic understanding of coastal and marine environments, including sediment transport, coastal dynamics and marine systems
• Experience in the engineering or consulting sector, including proposals and dealing with customers or external stakeholders
• Unrestricted and permanent work rights in Australia

Required skills

• Exposure to tools such as GIS, CAD, MATLAB or project management tools
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
