Graduate Civil Engineer – Rail & Metro

About the role

Join SMEC’s Rail & Metro team in Brisbane as a Graduate Civil Engineer. You will be part of a two‑year Graduate Development Program, gaining hands‑on experience on major rail and metro infrastructure projects while receiving structured learning and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Support design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis for roads, drainage or structures under senior guidance.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand design implementation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and meet project milestones.

Required profile

• Motivated Civil Engineering graduate who enjoys problem‑solving and teamwork.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn on real projects.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Civil 3D (or similar design tools).
• Knowledge of 12D or comparable software is advantageous.
