Golf Course Superintendent

About the role

Bowral Golf Club, a historic 18-hole course established in 1901 in the Southern Highlands of NSW, is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead the course maintenance team and take ownership of daily course preparation, turf health and ongoing improvement. The role balances hands-on work on the course with planning, communication and resource management, and offers input into future course improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage turf health, presentation and consistency across greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and surrounds
• Set clear expectations, develop skills and build a positive, accountable team
• Coordinate daily and seasonal maintenance, renovations and course preparation around the golf calendar
• Manage budgets, purchasing, machinery care and maintenance priorities
• Lead safe work practices, responsible chemical use and environmental management
• Keep Golf Operations informed on course conditions, planned works and progress
• Advise on drainage, irrigation, access, facilities and future projects

Required profile

• Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent recognised qualification
• Qualified turf professional with strong golf course maintenance experience
• Ability to plan and supervise work, lead a small team and support apprentices
• Willingness to get involved in daily operations and take responsibility for results
• Experience as a Superintendent or readiness to become one

Required skills

• Irrigation, drainage, turf nutrition, renovations and pest and disease management
• Chemical-use competency and a driver's licence
• Budgeting, organisation and communication skills

What we offer

• $95,000-$105,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on qualifications and experience
