Global Logistics and Customs Specialist

About the role

Metrea is seeking a Global Logistics & Customs Specialist to manage the movement of aircraft parts, mission equipment and controlled items across borders while ensuring full compliance with Australian and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate domestic and international freight across air, sea, road and courier networks, including urgent AOG shipments.
• Own shipping, customs clearance and Dangerous Goods handling to move equipment quickly and compliantly.
• Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, ABF and DAFF to secure efficient import/export clearances.
• Support Australian Defence Export Controls, sanctions and U.S. ITAR/EAR requirements.
• Manage temporary imports, ATA Carnets, bonded movements, permits and complex international shipments.
• Maintain accurate trade records and audit‑ready documentation.
• Track logistics performance and provider metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Australian logistics, customs or regulated aerospace/defence environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian import/export rules, DAFF biosecurity, Customs Act 1901 and dual‑use export controls.
• Proficiency in IATA/ICAO Dangerous Goods handling and ERP/TMS/WMS systems.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and cross‑functional coordination skills.
