General Manager, Operations - Australia

About the role

Avis Budget reports to the Managing Director, Pacific, and runs the Australian business with a high degree of autonomy. You will be accountable for operational performance and EBITDA across Australia and lead Operations, Fleet Distribution and Maintenance and Damage. You will also set the short- and long-term strategy that keeps the business improving.

Key responsibilities

• Own the P&L: forecast and manage revenue and cost budgets, track performance against plan and close gaps quickly
• Grow ancillary revenue (upgrades, damage waiver and counter products) and commercial vehicle revenue
• Manage and forecast the fleet to optimise revenue per unit, utilisation and customer service
• Raise customer satisfaction using NPS, Google reviews and Booking.com as key measures
• Lead, coach and engage a large operations team, building a strong leadership pipeline and succession plan
• Work across a global matrix organisation and contribute to commercial and fleet strategy
• Ensure the business meets health, safety, environmental, compliance and ESG standards

Required profile

• 5+ years in a senior operations or fleet leadership role, ideally in car rental, mobility or another multi-site, asset-intensive business
• Experience in a US-headquartered multinational, with a clear understanding of its performance metrics, reporting rhythms and ways of operating
• Proven record of improving operational efficiency and profitability
• Experience leading and developing teams to meet and exceed targets
• Confidence managing multiple projects and stakeholders and communicating with senior leaders
