General Labourer

About the role

Cobar Shire Council is hiring a General Labourer for a full-time, Band 1, Level 2 position paid $27.79 to $32.17 per hour plus applicable allowances under the Local Government (State) Award. The role involves installing, maintaining and repairing assets so they remain available for operational and community use, and includes an on-call and call-out roster for emergency works after hours.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair assets to keep them available for operational and community use
• Work an on-call and call-out roster to respond to emergency works after hours
• Assist with the replacement of roadside signs
• Be available to camp on construction and maintenance work sites during the week and to work overtime and extended hours, including weekends, as required by the works program

Required profile

• Australian, New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or suitable working rights in Australia
• Availability for overtime, extended hours and occasional weekend work
• Willingness to camp on site during the week
• Shortlisted candidates may need a national police check and a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening
