General HMO (PGY2) – Accredited Position at Northern Health

About the role

The General HMO (PGY2) position at Northern Health provides a comprehensive, four‑term clinical year across a wide range of specialties. Accredited under the National Framework, the role is designed for doctors who wish to explore both medical and surgical environments while completing the PGY2 certificate.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through acute general surgery, emergency, medicine, mental health, obstetrics, paediatrics and other specialty units.
• Participate in inpatient and community mental health services.
• Provide day oncology, haematology, orthopaedic, vascular and urology care.
• Contribute to hospital‑in‑the‑home and palliative care teams.
• Undertake night and on‑call cover as required.

Required profile

• Current medical registration (general or provisional) with the Medical Board of Australia via AHPRA.
• Successful completion of at least one year of postgraduate hospital experience in Australia, New Zealand or an equivalent recognised programme.
• Enrollment in the PGY2 match programme.
• Commitment to a fixed‑term, full‑time contract.
