Funeral Director Assistant (Part Time)

About the role

A Funeral Director Assistant works in a team that supports families during some of the most important and emotional moments of their lives. The role covers the care, preparation and coordination of funerals, including transfers, viewings and services, so that every step is handled with dignity, respect and compassion. It is described as meaningful, community-focused work requiring empathy, professionalism and emotional resilience. The position is advertised as multiple part-time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and respectfully organise order of service materials, ensuring accuracy and care
• Drive company vehicles (transfer vans and sedans) safely and professionally
• Prepare and clean company vehicles daily to a high standard
• Support families by transferring their loved ones from hospitals, nursing homes and private residences into the care of clients
• Assist with the order of service and set up rooms for viewings and services
• Support and guide families and guests with care and respect during funeral services
• Be physically capable of manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 25kg
