Full-Time Nightshift Road Maintenance Worker

About the role

Service Stream is delivering routine maintenance, defect rectification and refurbishment projects under a long-term contract with the Victorian Government (the Metropolitan Victorian Road Maintenance Contract, South Central Region). It is recruiting full-time nightshift road maintenance workers for permanent positions based at its Clayton depot. You will work under the direction of supervisors in crews of 2 to 4 people.

Key responsibilities

• Rapidly respond to incidents and emergencies across the network
• Carry out scheduled routine servicing and hazard and defect rectification on pavements (Flocon), bridges and other structural assets, and roadside assets such as barriers, signage and vegetation
• Complete all work with a strong focus on safety, quality and efficiency
• Record works-related data in the field according to work instructions, keeping it accurate and complete
• Take part in daily pre-start and shift-close meetings and suggest improvements to work practices

Required profile

• Experience working in a crew maintaining pavements, bridges and other structural assets, and/or roadside assets (barriers, signage, vegetation)
• TMA experience preferred but not essential; road safety barrier (Guard Rail/WRSB) experience preferred
• Flocon operator experience preferred
• Formal qualifications (Cert III or higher) in civil construction are a bonus, but equivalent knowledge and capability are acceptable
• Commitment to worker, road user and community safety, self-motivation, time management and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
