About the role
Southern Cross Care WA is seeking a full‑time Maintenance Worker to support its residential aged‑care facilities across Western Australia. You will ensure that buildings, equipment and environments are safe, reliable and well‑maintained, contributing to a high‑quality experience for residents, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, tiling, surface preparation, paving, concreting, door and window repairs, roof and gutter cleaning, and non‑electrical light fitting replacements.
- Carry out smoke detector and RCD testing, and routine building upkeep.
- Review daily maintenance requests in the BEIMS system, plan work efficiently and identify when licensed trades are required.
- Maintain safe work practices, use PPE correctly and comply with SCCWA policies and OH&S legislation.
- Identify hazards, report defects and contribute to risk assessments and control activities.
- Engage professionally with residents, families, staff and contractors to support a positive workplace culture.
- Participate in mandatory training (manual handling, chemical safety, fire and emergency) and keep knowledge of safe work practices up to date.
Required profile
- At least 1 year of experience as a Maintenance Worker, Officer or in a similar handyman/trade role.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and repairs.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Commitment to safe working methods and adherence to SCCWA policies.
