Fuel Operator – Defence Fuel Installation

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this position places you at the heart of a Defence fuel installation. You will receive structured training, so no prior Defence or fuel‑industry experience is required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and manage aviation and ground fuel storage and distribution facilities.
• Run fuel handling equipment safely and monitor fuel quality through regular sampling and testing.
• Maintain inventory records and ensure fuel volume, quality and availability using JFIMS and SCADA systems.
• Support routine maintenance activities and uphold safety, operational and security procedures.
• Work a rotating roster of day, afternoon and night shifts, including exercise periods of up to three months per year.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and ability to pass a police check.
• Valid driver’s licence (HR or HC preferred but not essential at entry).
• Willingness to work 8‑hour shifts with a paid 20‑minute crib break.
• Comfortable working in a Defence environment and adhering to strict compliance standards.

Required skills

• Use of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
