Founding Platform Engineer

About the role

Skip is building Australia's fastest, most intelligent home loan platform on infrastructure that must be fast to iterate on and robust in a regulated lending environment. It is hiring its first dedicated platform and security hire: a Founding Platform Engineer who makes the platform secure, reliable and observable by default, so that maintaining that posture takes less human effort over time. The role covers the platform, the corporate IT fleet and the CI/CD delivery pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Platform security: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, shift-left security, vulnerability and dependency scanning, penetration testing, incident response and a security calendar
• Zero-trust access, AWS hardening, automated patching and monitoring of unusual access and behaviour
• Reliability and business continuity: uptime targets, incident management, disaster recovery, RPO/RTO targets, runbooks and game days
• Infrastructure and developer experience: infrastructure-as-code, preview environments and deployment controls that let engineers and agents ship safely
• Fleet, identity and corporate IT: zero-touch device provisioning, MDM, endpoint security, self-healing configuration, automated onboarding/offboarding, SSO/MFA and access reviews
• Move toward policy-as-code, automated remediation and agent-assisted triage, with humans verifying high-stakes changes

Required profile

• Typically 6+ years across DevOps, platform, security or operations-heavy engineering, with the autonomy to own outcomes end-to-end
• Experience building and securing cloud infrastructure (AWS) in production, with a preference for least-privilege, automation and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience owning security posture and reliability, ideally in a regulated or compliance-sensitive environment
• Comfortable treating corporate IT and device fleets as automation problems (MDM, zero-touch, identity lifecycle)
• Bonus: experience with policy-as-code, detection-as-code, agentic operations or self-healing systems
