Food and Beverage Supervisor

About the role

A Food and Beverage Supervisor is needed at a hotel in Melbourne (205 Collins Street, Victoria). The role is full-time, non-management and focuses on keeping the team working together to deliver optimum service and meet guest needs, while inspecting staff, maintaining the premises and supporting management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure staff work as a team to provide optimum service and meet guest needs.
• Inspect staff grooming and attire and correct any deficiencies.
• Complete opening and closing duties, including setting up supplies and tools, cleaning equipment and areas, and locking doors.
• Inspect storage areas for organisation, FIFO use and cleanliness.
• Complete scheduled inventories, stock and requisition supplies.
• Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety and guest well-being.
• Complete work orders for maintenance repairs.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining and coaching employees, and act as first point of contact for the Open Door Policy.
• Follow company and safety/security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality and protection of company assets.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their needs, assist people with disabilities and thank them sincerely.
• Develop positive working relationships, support team goals and suggest improvements to efficiency, quality, safety and cost savings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 2 years of related work experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• No license or certification required.

Required skills

• Ability to read and visually verify information in various formats.
• Ability to visually inspect tools, equipment or machines for defects.
• Physical ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and move through narrow or elevated spaces.
