Finance Opportunities (APS3‑EL2) – Canberra

About the role

Randstad Canberra is seeking expressions of interest from finance professionals for a range of contract, temporary and permanent positions within the Australian Public Service. Opportunities span levels from APS3 to EL2 and cover both operational and strategic finance functions across multiple government departments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process financial statements, asset registers and compliance reports (CBMS processing).
• Support internal budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and costing activities.
• Develop external budget documents such as Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) and PAES.
• Execute finance officer duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit‑card reconciliation and payroll assistance.
• Provide strategic finance leadership, advise senior executives, contribute to policy development and ensure financial governance.

Required profile

• Prior experience in an APS finance environment or equivalent commercial experience.
• A degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance; CA/CPA qualification (or in progress) preferred for senior levels.
• Australian citizenship; existing Baseline, NV1 or NV2 security clearance is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with major financial management systems such as SAP, TechOne, TM1 or CBMS.
