Finance Manager - Healthcare
Employeur non precise · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
A global healthcare organisation with a strong presence in Australia and New Zealand is recruiting a Finance Manager in Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of Finance ANZ and acting as their second-in-command, the Finance Manager holds end-to-end responsibility for financial reporting, compliance and planning across the Australian and New Zealand business. Transactional processing will move to a group shared service centre in 2027, freeing the finance team to focus more on analysis and business partnering.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end close, including accruals, reconciliations, gross margin and P&L reporting
- Streamline the close process and improve the sales reconciliation process
- Redesign manual Excel reports to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Manage the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long-range planning, plus analysis and commentary for monthly business reviews
- Partner with business unit heads, the General Manager and HR on performance, investment and priorities
- Coordinate statutory reporting, the external audit, and income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax compliance, working with group tax and external advisers
- Review the Finance Assistant's balance sheet reconciliations, journals and GST/NZ BAS returns
- Lead internal control self-assessments and ensure accurate reporting from SAP into group consolidation
- Provide leadership coverage for the Head of Finance ANZ as required
Required profile
- Qualified Chartered Accountant; CPA candidates will also be considered
- Ideally two to three years' experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier firm before moving into a commercial role
- Hands-on experience across month-end close, statutory reporting and tax compliance, with exposure to budgeting and forecasting
- Commercially minded, able to explain variances clearly to senior leaders
- Exposure to SAP is an advantage; industry experience is not required
- Ambitious and motivated to progress into the Head of Finance role over time
Required skills
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to redesign inefficient reports
- SAP (an advantage)
What we offer
- Competitive salary and great flexibility
- Permanent, hybrid role: three days in the Melbourne office and two days from home, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening calls to the European head office around month-end
- Clear succession pathway to the senior finance position
- Global organisation holding an annual regional finance summit, with potential international mobility
