Finance / Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

An established commercial construction business based in Melbourne's east is looking for a Finance / AP Officer to join its small, close-knit finance team, which reports to the CFO. The team is described as trusting, flexible and caring, and the candidate will be trained and supported by an experienced colleague who knows the full AP and payroll function. Construction or Jobpac experience is a bonus but not essential, as full training is provided. The role starts in January.

Key responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounts payable: invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, employee expenses, and weekly and month-end payment runs
• Month-end reconciliations and journals (general ledger and credit cards)
• Support with BAS, PAYG and other compliance reporting
• Back-up payroll support, including entitlements, super, Incolink and Co-invest (training provided)
• Support financial controls and audits, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role and a demonstrated stable work history
• Construction industry experience preferred, but other industries will be considered
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong team player with a positive can-do attitude, proactive and a natural problem solver
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required skills

• Experience with accounting systems; familiarity with Jobpac is a bonus
