Field Service Technician – Underground Mining (Electrical/Mechanical)

About the role

Alfabs Mining is expanding and seeks experienced Electrical and Mechanical Field Service Technicians with a strong background in underground mining equipment. The role is based DIDO from Emerald, Mackay or Rockhampton (QLD) or FIFO from Kurri Kurri (NSW), providing on‑site support across Queensland. You will diagnose, repair, rebuild and commission specialised underground mining, material handling and face machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults on underground mining equipment.
• Perform planned and preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and emergency field service call‑outs.
• Support coal cutting and face machinery underground, including equipment rebuilds, refurbishment, assembly and commissioning.
• Install, test and commission electrical components and control systems, and conduct pre‑start checks, inspections and statutory testing.
• Read and work from schematics, engineering drawings and scopes of work while building strong relationships with customers and site teams.

Required profile

• Relevant Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification.
• Underground coal mining field service experience, especially with coal cutting/face machinery.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic capability.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings and scopes of work.
• Serious commitment to safety, strong work ethic and good communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across NSW and Queensland.
