Process Engineer

About the role

Blue Projects is a dynamic firm delivering bespoke engineering and project‑management solutions for industrial clients. We are seeking a passionate Process Engineer to join our NSW or Victoria office and support strategic business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop PFDs, P&IDs and equipment layouts for industrial projects.
• Design and manage manufacturing processes to optimise safety, performance and quality compliance.
• Perform process simulations, mass and energy balances, and troubleshoot issues.
• Create detailed piping, insulation, instrumentation and equipment specifications, and produce tender/RFQ documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, automation, production) and liaise with suppliers.
• Prepare project plans, monitor milestones, conduct risk assessments, FMEAs, HAZOPs and LOPA studies, and support on‑site commissioning.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in process engineering or project management in industrial sectors (preferably FMCG).
• Bachelor’s or Honours degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or related field.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple project deliverables.
• Willingness to travel for business trips and project relocations.

Required skills

• Generation of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Process calculations – mass and energy balances.
• Plant layout, piping and mechanical design.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD systems.
• Microsoft Office suite; Microsoft Project is an advantage.
