Field Officer - MATES in Construction

About the role

Pure Source Recruitment is recruiting a Field Officer for MATES in Construction, a national suicide prevention organisation. You will use your knowledge of the building and construction sector to deliver suicide awareness and prevention programs, creating opportunities for conversation, education and advocacy for workers facing mental health concerns and hardship. The role involves training, regular site visits and access to help and support pathways, and requires travel across Townsville and the wider North Queensland region.

Key responsibilities

• Promote the MATES in Construction program across the industry
• Deliver the program on construction worksites and other MATES industries as appropriate
• Build relationships with stakeholders at new and existing sites
• Build and support volunteer networks on site, such as connectors and ASIST workers
• Schedule and deliver training on suicide prevention and support
• Support struggling workers and connect them to appropriate supports
• Maintain records and collect data and statistics
• Carry out other duties supporting brand building and program delivery

Required profile

• Demonstrated understanding of the Australian building and construction industry, with specific experience in the construction sector
• Genuine interest in suicide prevention and mental health awareness in construction
• Ability to deliver programs and speak and present to groups
• Flexible, mature and calm approach in a reactive environment
• Ability to work autonomously and manage your own priorities
