Field CTO – Australia

About the role

Breakmark is seeking a Field CTO for Australia to lead the technical strategy for the region. You will work closely with enterprise customers, shaping AI solutions while building a local engineering organisation from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Lead enterprise technical engagements, including discovery, demos, architecture reviews and integration discussions.
• Build hands‑on integrations, prototypes and production‑ready AI solutions, setting high standards for scalability, reliability and performance.
• Recruit, mentor and grow a high‑performing regional engineering and solutions team.
• Own end‑to‑end customer delivery, from solution design through deployment and ongoing production support.
• Influence product and engineering roadmaps with regional market feedback and represent the technical organisation to customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on backend engineering experience and 5+ years leading high‑performing engineering teams.
• Proven track record building technical organisations from scratch and owning production systems at scale.
• Startup mindset with high ownership, bias for action and experience as a founder.
• Strong executive presence, able to discuss architecture with engineers and strategy with senior leadership.

Required skills

• Backend engineering expertise.
• Deep knowledge of AI, large language models (LLMs) and modern AI infrastructure.
• Experience delivering AI‑powered products into production.
• Ability to design scalable, reliable and high‑performance systems.
