Family Worker (Community & Family Support)

About the role

CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes is seeking a caring and passionate Family Worker to join its Community & Family Support (CaFS) program in Lake Cargelligo. You will work closely with families to deliver playgroups, child development programs and individual support, helping parents and carers build the capacity to support their children's wellbeing and development. The role is part-time, with a maximum term contract to 25 June 2027; further funding may allow an additional contract. Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Provide families with case management, supported playgroups, parenting education, peer support groups and community capacity-building events.
• Support other CaFS support workers and staff with practical safeguarding knowledge.
• Deliver services in line with the Service Plan, activity targets and contractual requirements.
• Keep data accurate and complete in systems such as CIMS and PIX, and attend monthly meetings and reports.
• Follow CatholicCare values, WH&S policies and child safety obligations, including safeguarding children and young people.
• Take part in supervision, risk management, stakeholder engagement and professional development.

Required profile

• A strong connection to the community and good understanding of local services that support children and families.
• Capacity to support families and offer learning opportunities to parents and children.
• Excellent organisational and administration skills.
• Strong personal values and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic organisation.
• Working With Children Check and a current NSW Police Check.

What we offer

• Hourly rate from $41.66, depending on experience, skills and qualifications (under the SCHADS award).
