Facilities Maintainer – Fitter

About the role

The Facilities Maintainer – Fitter is a core member of a multi‑skilled team responsible for the upkeep of infrastructure and systems at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap. The role combines hands‑on mechanical repairs with planning, coordination, training and resource management to ensure reliable operation of critical plant.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, ducting, pump, blower, power generation, fuel and water systems.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, including shutdowns.
• Train and mentor junior staff and manage resources to meet service targets.
• Respond to unscheduled breakdowns and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Turner).
• At least 4 years post‑trade experience, preferably in shutdown maintenance and plant work on mine sites.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Medical fitness, ability to work in restricted plant areas and meet security clearance (NV1 or SSBI) requirements.
