Experienced Electrical Engineer – Water Infrastructure

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Water Infrastructure team in Melbourne. You will contribute to the design and delivery of major water pipelines, pumping stations, and advanced treatment plants across local and national projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Assist senior engineers with detailed design of LV electrical systems, including schematics, equipment layout, motor control centres, and communications networks.
• Develop SCADA, instrumentation, and PLC solutions for water infrastructure projects.
• Prepare technical reports, functional descriptions, and specifications.
• Apply project management principles to meet standards and deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–7 years of electrical design experience, preferably in water or industrial sectors.
• Proven ability to work in an engineering design consultancy environment.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
