Experienced CNC Machinist

About the role

SGS Australia is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for its Toowoomba operations. This full‑time, permanent position involves hands‑on machining, safety compliance, and mentoring apprentices while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Train and mentor apprentices and shop personnel.
• Perform machining according to engineering drawings and instructions.
• Complete product, repair, and inspection documentation in line with the Quality Management System.
• Maintain accurate daily records and manage company gauges and measuring equipment.
• Report machine faults, infrastructure issues, and safety conflicts to senior management.
• Undertake shift work and support client‑required service upskilling.

Required profile

• Current trade certificate and relevant licences (forklift, large wheeled loader, vehicle operation).
• Minimum 5 years experience operating and programming manual and CNC metal‑working machinery in a customer‑focused environment.
• Understanding of steel grades and their machining characteristics.
• Physical fitness appropriate to the role.

• CNC programming and operation of turning and milling equipment.
