Experienced Belt Technician – Port Hedland

About the role

We are seeking experienced Belt Technicians to join Fortescue’s Fixed Plant Maintenance team in Port Hedland. The role focuses on maintaining and improving conveyor systems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations within a FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities

• Perform steel‑cord and fabric conveyor belt splicing, repairs and routine maintenance.
• Carry out pulley lagging using cold‑vulcanised methods in line with Fortescue standards.
• Apply rubber lining to pipes, spools, chutes, launders and related equipment.
• Maintain conveyor components including roller replacements, frame change‑outs, skirt maintenance and tracking system installations.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and record data accurately in the Plant Data System (PDS).
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement opportunities to enhance reliability and performance.

Required profile

• Level 2 or 3 Belt Splicing qualification (desirable).
• Demonstrated experience with conveyor components such as scrapers, rollers and pulleys.
• Experience working in fixed‑plant or continuous processing environments.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, maintenance practices and production requirements.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, PDS).
• Commitment to safety and achieving zero‑harm outcomes.
