Environmental Technician (12‑Month Fixed Term)

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term full‑time position at Yara Pilbara Fertilisers supports the Environmental Superintendent in meeting compliance requirements for operational environmental licences and approvals. The role is residential, based in Karratha, with a Monday‑to‑Friday roster.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, preserve and handle environmental samples, including groundwater, surface water and air.
• Calibrate monitoring equipment and maintain deployed loggers.
• Coordinate logistics for sampling, sample handling and dispatch to laboratories.
• Download data from monitoring equipment and verify laboratory certificates and results in ESDAT.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring and field work.
• Familiarity with environmental management and monitoring requirements in Western Australia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a Certificate IV in Environmental Monitoring and Technology (or equivalent).
• Fluent English (verbal and written) and ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Sample collection, preservation and handling techniques.
• Equipment calibration and logger maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
