Environmental Officer

About the role

Veolia ANZ is looking for an Environmental Officer to join its team at the Hampton Park site in Melbourne. The role supports the delivery of business and environmental objectives through environmental monitoring and compliance across three landfills, working proactively to ensure compliance with environmental obligations and consistent best practice across sites.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain site staff's understanding of licence and approval conditions through incident reporting, environmental training and support for ongoing change initiatives
• Manage ongoing environmental monitoring (collection, analysis and reporting) in line with legislative requirements
• Identify, investigate and mitigate environmental and compliance events across operations
• Manage site environmental management plans to ensure compliance
• Prepare and submit reports and correspondence to local, state and federal agencies
• Obtain and deliver environmental approvals and amendments
• Respond to environmental incidents and manage regulator interactions

Required profile

• Experience in a similar role with exposure to environmental monitoring
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, particularly the Environment Protection Act 2017
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to analyse reports and data
• Strong attention to detail
