Agronomist – Broadacre Cropping

About the role

Elders is looking for an Agronomist in Ayr to join its growing team on a permanent, full-time basis. As a key member of the branch team, you will act as a trusted advisor to cropping clients, working closely with the rural products teams to give practical advice on crop inputs, soil health and farm management. The role is hands-on and relationship-focused, covering both field and in-store work.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, service-based relationships with broadacre cropping clients.
• Provide tailored agronomic advice on chemicals, fertilisers, seed and soil health.
• Carry out in-field assessments and deliver crop monitoring and planning services.
• Develop seasonal programs and input plans to support on-farm success.
• Identify opportunities to grow the client base and cross-sell Elders products and services.
• Stay informed on local agronomic trends, research and development and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in agricultural science, agronomy or a related field.
• Practical experience in broadacre agronomy, agricultural product sales or crop consulting.
• Strong technical knowledge of cropping systems and sustainable input planning.
• Current driver's licence and the ability to work independently in the field.
• Passion for Australian agriculture and a proactive approach to building client relationships.
