Environmental Engineer – Port Pirie

About the role

Join Nyrstar’s SHEQ team in Port Pirie as an Environmental Engineer, driving sustainability in a complex industrial environment. You will support compliance with the EPA licence and lead improvement programmes such as the Environmental and Water Improvement Plans.

Key responsibilities

• Collect emissions data, maintain inventories and prepare reports for internal and regulator audiences.
• Lead investigations and root‑cause analyses of metals emissions to air and water, coordinating technical studies to reduce environmental impact.
• Drive execution of the Environmental and Water Improvement Plans, ensuring measurable progress.
• Act as liaison with internal teams, the EPA and other external stakeholders to achieve environmental goals.

Required profile

• A degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in the heavy‑industry sector.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities, with proven influence at all levels.
• Analytical problem‑solving skills, capable of interpreting complex data and delivering actionable insights.
• Proactive, innovative mindset focused on compliance and continuous improvement.
