Environmental Consultant - Contaminated Sites

About the role

ERM is recruiting several Environmental Consultants for its Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation Team based in the Brisbane CBD office. The team consults on contaminated sites mainly within Queensland on investigation and remediation projects. Candidates should have 1-5 years' experience in contaminated site management consulting and strong fieldwork skills across a range of site uses and contaminant types.

Key responsibilities

• Take part actively in the Brisbane contaminated sites team
• Carry out environmental assessments and remediation programs, collecting field data (soil, soil gas/vapour, groundwater)
• Manage electronic data and produce borelogs and summary tables
• Provide inputs into environmental reports
• Supervise fieldwork programs, including subcontractors and ERM staff on site
• Assist with preparing client proposals
• Support project managers with planning and delivering field programs and/or budget and task management

Required profile

• Previous consulting experience (1-5 years) in contaminated land fieldwork
• Tertiary qualification in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental engineering, soil science or another related science
• Fieldwork experience collecting data (soil, water, soil vapour, etc.)
• Experience providing inputs into project elements and/or proposals
• Willingness to travel
• Authorised to work full-time in Australia and holds a full Australian driver's licence

Required skills

• Preliminary and detailed site investigation and sampling techniques
• Working knowledge of the ASC NEPM
• Report writing
• Health and safety awareness on complex work sites
