Senior Environmental Planner - Energy and Infrastructure Projects

About the role

ERM, a global sustainability consulting firm, is looking for a Senior Environmental Planner to join its Brisbane team. The role leads environmental approvals and impact assessments across major energy and infrastructure projects in Queensland, working with specialists across ERM's multidisciplinary and global network while building your own client relationships, leading projects and mentoring junior consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead environmental impact assessment projects and complex approvals processes in Queensland under relevant Commonwealth legislation.
• Manage multiple projects within scope, schedule and budget, delivering high-quality results.
• Prepare technical proposals and contribute to business development with new and existing clients.
• Mentor junior and mid-level consulting staff in environmental impact assessment and approvals.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues across ERM's multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' relevant experience in environmental planning, impact assessment or approvals; open to candidates from consulting, government, industry or other relevant backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with strong analytical and strategic thinking.
• Professional integrity, able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Right to work in Australia.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Queensland planning and environmental legislation, including the Planning Act 2016, Environmental Protection Act 1994, State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth).
• Experience in other jurisdictions, environmental management or stakeholder engagement is viewed favourably.
