Engineering Team Lead

About the role

Mable, part of the Attain Healthtech Group, is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Team Lead to join a new squad in its Mable Platform team. The role sits within a high-productivity, dynamic team and involves working closely with Design, Data and Product colleagues to build robust, high-quality solutions for critical business flows. The position is permanent and full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of a cross-functional squad to deliver high-quality features.
• Assist the product manager in maintaining the product backlog, giving technical input on prioritisation and breaking epics into uniformly sized, sequenced tasks.
• Help monitor the team's delivery cadence and work with the team to improve efficiency.
• Promote sound, modern engineering practices and tools such as TDD, pair programming and efficient branching strategies.
• Teach and mentor the squad on technology choices, software design practices and ways of working.
• Work on non-functional requirements with Infrastructure Engineers, Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers and Quality Coaches.
• Collaborate on and recommend sound DevOps practices.
• Manage direct reports for at most one squad.

Required profile

• Strong technical background focused mainly on API development and re-platforming.
• Previous team lead experience.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• A 'leave it better than you found it' attitude towards code.

Required skills

• Familiarity with testing frameworks and the testing pyramid.
• Modern CI/CD and software operations practices such as trunk-based development, 12-factor applications, Docker, and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Software design patterns and Domain Driven Design concepts.
