Engineering Team Lead - Electrical

About the role

Lead the electrical engineering function for Aggreko's IPP portfolio, overseeing project development, design, construction, commissioning and asset operation across Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. Provide technical authority to ensure safety, compliance and long‑term performance of power generation assets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering leadership and governance across the portfolio, managing standards, technical assurance frameworks and approvals.
• Support all project phases from concept design, FEED, detailed design, tender evaluation, procurement, construction, commissioning to handover.
• Lead technical work on HV, MV, LV systems, grid connection, protection & control, substations, switchyards, SCADA, BESS, solar PV, wind and thermal generation assets.
• Drive asset engineering and operational support, investigations, reliability and performance improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and develop engineering colleagues and contractors, fostering a high‑performing, collaborative environment.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• 12‑15 years of electrical engineering experience in large‑scale infrastructure, power generation, transmission or renewable energy.
• Proven experience leading a small engineering team while remaining hands‑on in design.
• Experience on renewable/hybrid generation projects within IPP, EPC, utility or developer environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to act as a technical authority on complex power projects.

Required skills

• High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) system expertise.
• Grid connection strategy and power system studies.
• Protection and control systems, substations and switchyards.
• SCADA and plant control systems.
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV and wind generation interfaces.
• In‑depth knowledge of Australian Standards and network requirements.
