Engineering Manager - Defence Air Traffic Systems

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineering professionals within its Australian Defence Air Traffic System (ADATS) Capability Assurance Program. The program modernises air traffic management systems across multiple RAAF sites, supporting Australia's Military Air Traffic Control capabilities. The role reports to the ADATS Program Manager and sits within a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define, deploy and enforce engineering processes integrated into the program and the Raytheon Management System
• Support engineering estimates, basis of estimates, work breakdown structures and schedules
• Liaise with departmental leaders so systems and sub-systems are monitored and supported, with changes defined to meet user requirements
• Lead engineering and technical analysis for reliability, maintainability, availability, safety and cost-effectiveness, including investigations and recommendations
• Develop and implement engineering changes per company and program procedures
• Lead technical reviews and audits, and plan, estimate, resource and schedule engineering tasks
• Liaise with the Commonwealth Representative on engineering issues, design and life-cycle support, and notify the Commonwealth of defects and design deficiencies
• Establish, manage and report engineering metrics and KPIs, and provision engineering resources
• Manage operations, phasing and tasking to meet the project schedule, and control the engineering methodology, tools and procedures

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, with a significant component of Electrical or Communications Engineering; postgraduate degree desirable
• Advanced knowledge of the design, manufacture and support of air traffic systems
• Experience developing recommendations and implementing new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans
• Experience in engineering and project-engineering management, and leading diverse technical disciplines and staff
• Solid understanding of contract and legislated requirements and technical specifications and standards
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance
