Electrical & Mechanical Field Service Technician – Underground Mining

About the role

Alfabs Mining is seeking experienced Electrical and Mechanical Field Service Technicians to provide hands‑on technical support across underground coal mining operations in Queensland. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing maintenance and commissioning specialised underground equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults on underground mining equipment.
• Performing planned and preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and emergency field service call‑outs.
• Rebuilding, refurbishing, assembling and commissioning underground coal cutting and face machinery.
• Installing, testing and commissioning electrical components and control systems, and conducting pre‑start checks and statutory testing.
• Reading and working from schematics, engineering drawings and scopes of work while building strong relationships with customers and site teams.

Required profile

• Relevant Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification.
• Underground coal mining field service experience with extensive work on coal cutting/face machinery.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic capability, and ability to read schematics and engineering drawings.
• Commitment to safety, strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously or as part of a crew.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including overtime as required.
