EL1 Lead Investigator (Queensland)

About the role

The agency is seeking an EL1 Lead Investigator for a temporary 12‑month assignment in Brisbane, supporting the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) and related enforcement partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering DVA investigation objectives, coordinating with partner agencies.
• Case manage and quality assure complex investigations, producing planning documents, evidence briefs and reports.
• Develop capability using innovative investigative strategies and tools.
• Promote the department’s payment integrity framework and monitor program outcomes.
• Maintain high‑level relationships with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other law‑enforcement entities.
• Support out‑of‑office investigative activities, including domestic travel.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain Negative Vetting One security clearance and national police check.
• More than five years of experience handling high‑volume, complex investigations to a high standard.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgement and discretion with sensitive information.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
