Early Parenting Practitioner

About the role

Mercy Health's Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre provides specialist support to Victorian families with children aged 0-4 years, helping them build a happy, healthy and safe home. The Early Parenting Practitioner is employed under the Nursing and Midwifery EBA as an IB65 permanent part-time position (0.4 FTE, two days per week) at an hourly rate of $35.91. The centre is open Monday to Friday, closed on weekends, and runs day, evening and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide responsive early parenting support to families with children up to their 4th birthday
• Actively participate as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the complex needs of families
• Provide emotional and practical support and guidance for the health and wellbeing of children

Required profile

• One of the following qualifications: Enrolled Nurse, Mothercraft (Enrolled Nurse), Early Childhood Development diploma and above, or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or Bachelor of Social Work
• Understanding of key child development issues relating to young parents and families
• Well-developed skills in risk and needs assessment
• Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, and proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders

• Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team
