2026 Geriatric Medicine Registrar

About the role

Mercy Health is recruiting a 2026 Geriatric Medicine Registrar for its Geriatric Evaluation and Management and GEM@Home Unit, located at Werribee Mercy Hospital. The unit is a 30-bed inpatient ward providing specialist in-patient care to the growing communities of the west, supervised by a Head of Unit and including Geriatricians, an Advanced Trainee, a BPT registrar, HMOs and an Intern. It is part of a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health staff, and the hospital is a teaching hospital of the University of Notre Dame.

Key responsibilities

• Provide geriatric evaluation and management care within the 30-bed inpatient ward.
• Take part in ward duties alongside the multidisciplinary team.
• Be involved in ACAS rounds and specialist clinics.

Required profile

• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care.
• Valid full driver's licence.
• In progress of obtaining or holding a current police record check and working with children check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.

• Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
• A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to patient care and management.
• Ability to nurture respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team.

What we offer

• Fixed-term full-time position with day, night and weekend shifts, 43 hours per week.
• Salary from $2,481.70 per week in Registrar Year 1 to $3,415.81 per week in Registrar Year 6.
