Drill Operator - FIFO Pilbara Mines

About the role

Rio Tinto is recruiting Drill Operators for its Drill and Blast teams across various Pilbara mine sites. The work is permanent, with family-friendly rosters of 8:6 or 8:6/7:7, and reporting to the supervisor of the drill team. The role suits team-oriented, safety-conscious people who want a balanced work-life rhythm.

Key responsibilities

• Operate open pit drill rigs and other equipment when required
• Inspect equipment to ensure it is in correct working order and meets safety requirements
• Maintain a safe standard of drill laydown areas
• Optimise consumable life and consumable life management
• Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage safety awareness and compliance
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities using Rio Tinto best practices
• Work closely with other functions and stakeholders

Required profile

• A commitment to safety, prioritising the wellbeing of yourself and your team
• A valid Australian C Class manual driver's licence or higher
• A Dangerous Goods Licence
• A strong team mindset, able to work safely and flexibly to meet business requirements

Required skills

• Open pit drilling on Atlas Copco, PV275, Reedrill, SK-F, Cubex QXR 1120 and Sandvik DR540 drills
