Director, Strategic Infrastructure Coordination

About the role

Join the Infrastructure Portfolio and Advisory division to shape Queensland’s long‑term infrastructure future. As Director, Strategic Infrastructure Coordination you will lead whole‑of‑government planning, coordinate a 10‑year capital pipeline and provide strategic advice to senior decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead reforms that improve infrastructure planning and coordination across the whole‑of‑government capital pipeline.
• Translate strategic direction into practical implementation through creative problem‑solving.
• Provide strategic intelligence, analysis and advice to Ministers, the Director‑General, senior leaders and State agencies on infrastructure trends over a 10‑year horizon.
• Work across agencies and stakeholders to coordinate and prioritise strategic infrastructure pipelines and support a sustainable, deliverable capital program.
• Identify project and programme risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful outcomes.
• Represent the department at high‑level forums and committees where strategic direction, collaboration and negotiation are required.
• Lead and develop the team through clear direction, capability development, performance management and staff engagement while managing financial and other resources.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading whole‑of‑government infrastructure planning projects and translating strategy into practical outcomes.
• Strong strategic thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities, bringing clarity to challenging issues.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, building stakeholder commitment to new approaches and shared priorities.
• Excellent collaboration and relationship‑building skills across organisational and sector boundaries.
• Experience in risk and governance, anticipating emerging issues and supporting robust decision‑making.
• People leadership experience, building capability and fostering a high‑performing, engaged team.
