Director of Foundation – Philanthropy & Community Impact

About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation is seeking an experienced leader to direct its philanthropy, fundraising, and community impact programmes. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Officer, you will act as the chief ambassador for philanthropy across the organisation, ensuring that fundraising outcomes translate into tangible benefits for patients, research and health‑care innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Foundation’s strategic priorities, fundraising performance, marketing and advocacy activities.
• Build and manage a high‑performing team responsible for major gifts, corporate partnerships, trusts, foundations, campaigns, appeals and bequests.
• Strengthen the Foundation’s profile, reputation and influence both internally and externally.
• Diversify revenue streams and expand philanthropic reach through strategic stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Board, Foundation Committee and senior clinicians.

Required profile

• Proven track record in senior fundraising or philanthropy roles within complex, mission‑driven organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver sustainable growth and organisational impact.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing major gifts and corporate partnerships.
• Visible, authentic leadership style with the capacity to inspire and develop teams.

Required skills

• Experience in major‑gift fundraising, corporate partnership development, and managing trusts/foundations.
• Strategic vision combined with operational discipline.
• Excellent relationship‑building with philanthropists, corporate partners, clinicians and board members.
