Director of Communications for Australia & New Zealand

About the role

Google is seeking a Director of Communications for Australia and New Zealand to lead an integrated communications strategy across the region. You will shape narratives, manage a team of communications professionals, and work closely with senior leaders to promote Google’s products, culture, and policy positions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi‑channel communications strategy for ANZ.
• Lead and grow a team of communications specialists.
• Collaborate with senior sales, product, policy, legal and marketing leaders to define clear narratives.
• Engage journalists, creators, editors and other thought leaders to amplify Google’s messages.
• Produce written materials, campaign assets and manage budgets, agency partners and multi‑product initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with media and influencer networks across consumer, business and technology press.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 15 years of communications experience in business and media environments.
• Proven ability to partner with senior executives and leadership teams.
• Experience building media relationships, external communications, and working with social‑media creators and podcasters.
• Preferred: senior communications leadership in a consumer‑technology, multi‑product company; management experience in large multinational enterprises; strong understanding of consumer and ad‑tech policy landscape (AI, online safety, privacy, security).
