Director, Mining Business Transformation

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking a senior professional to lead mining transformation engagements across strategy, operational performance and business improvement. The role is based in Brisbane (with work across Australia) and will shape the growth of the firm’s Mining practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day delivery of transformation projects, ensuring they are on time, on budget and meet high‑quality standards.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments of mining asset lifecycles and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Design and implement initiatives that deliver measurable, sustainable performance improvements.
• Prepare client deliverables, including reports, presentations and board‑level materials.
• Maintain primary client contact, building trust with operational leaders and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of combined mining/resources industry experience and management consulting or corporate advisory experience.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale transformation or performance‑improvement engagements in mining.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with experience mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Technical degree in engineering, mining, geoscience, metallurgy or a business degree in commerce, economics or finance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Practical knowledge of AI tools and ability to apply them in analysis and client deliverables.
