Director, Governing Board Secretariat

About the role
The Director, Governing Board Secretariat will lead the newly created Secretariat that supports the Resources Safety & Health Queensland (RSHQ) Governing Board, its Chair and key advisory committees. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure high‑quality governance, reporting and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic, independent advice to the Board Chair, Board members, CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of Board papers, briefing materials and high‑level reports.
- Lead a small, high‑performing team to deliver governance, secretariat and organisational support.
- Drive effective governance processes, risk alignment and strategic oversight.
- Facilitate seamless information flow and robust decision‑making across the Board and committees.
Required profile
- Extensive experience supporting Boards, executive committees or governance functions.
- Strong understanding of contemporary governance frameworks, risk and strategic planning.
- Exceptional judgement, discretion and ability to manage confidential matters.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of delivering high‑quality outcomes.
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing briefing materials and Board papers.
